Jan. 9th, 2011 @ 09:10 pm Selling of my gaming collection for charity.
About this Entry
Hey gang,
I am clearing out my closet and selling off a lot of my gaming and book collection with the majority of the money going to charity.  The charities I am supporting are the American Cancer Society, Canine Assistance (a group that trains dogs for disabled people) and a local animal shelter which rescues animals from other shelters before they are put down.

Please check out my auctions and bid if you see something you like.  They are all starting at a penny and I have some rare out of print items up for auction. Tell a friend

Sep. 14th, 2009 @ 11:39 am Are you a live action role player? Are you interested in fantasy?
About this Entry
Do you love the exciting world of fantasy?
Do you blend reality and fiction with live role play?
Do you even bring your family and friends?
Do you actually know how to make your own chain mail and use it accordingly?

My name is Jessica and I am student at Watkins College of Art and Design. I am shooting a documentary on Live Action Role Play (LARP) in Nashville Tennessee. I would like to meet and interview some fantasy enthusiasts. Finally I would be interested in photographing you. You would get a copy of every photograph I use in my film as well a DVD of the documentary itself. This project will be going on all semester but I am interested in meeting with some of you next week. Specifically Thursday or Sunday. If you would be interested in helping out and being part of a fun student documentary shoot me an email. We can go from there!

Just so you know I am not a creep here are links to some of my work:

I also LOVE fantasy and wish I could LARP but being a full time student and working doesn't allow me to currently. I have high hopes for the future though . . .

My Email:

Hope to hear from you soon!

Mar. 18th, 2009 @ 04:09 pm Game Days at Sherlock's Books in Lebanon.
About this Entry
Moving to first Sundays, see below.

Turns out that April 12th is Easter, I will be at a convention, and I'm sure
other folks will have family things. We have decided to close on Easter so that
our employees will be able to have time with their families too. This caused us
to look at the other planned game days in relation to holidays and other events
booked at the store.

Game Days will now be on the First Sunday of every month. Yes, I know there is
another game day on first Sundays. We have thought about it and we have lots to
offer, and hope you feel the same way!

On Game Days we will be open early, at 10 am, and will have eggs, sausage, bacon
and homemade croissants available for breakfast. Although we have seating for
70, We suggest you arrive early to insure seat and table availabilty. For those
of you that smoke, there is a nice outdoor covered patio available for your
gaming pleasure. We will have giveaways every odd hour, and of course our
regular lunch and dinner menu and domestic and import beers.

Here are the upcoming game days at Sherlock's Cafe:

April 5th
May 3rd
June 7th
July 5th
(and so on.)

However, gamers are always welcome anytime the cafe is open! There is even a
table reserved for gaming now.

Regular Hours:
Tues.-Thurs. 10-6, Fri-Sat 10-9, Sunday 12-5, Monday-Closed.

Please patronize the cafe and tip the staff, that is the best thing you can do
to make game day continue. Also, please understand that children must be
supervised at all times, and cannot go running through the bookstore while you
game in the cafe. Other than that, game on!

You guys rock,

Oct. 12th, 2008 @ 01:06 am Playtesters needed
About this Entry
We are finalizing the rules for a Bronze Age roleplaying game, Similiar in gaming style to old school D&D in the belief that 'roleplaying' rather than calculus is the purpose of roleplaying (obviously enough)
A simple but versatile magic system designed to give Robert E Howard style to the sorcery and allow players to create magic on the fly (within reason) combined with a brutally effective combat system creates a game which we think is ready to go, but of course playtesting is the final step and also the most important. The setting is a fantasized version of the Bronze age but with the epic mentality of Bronze age tales. The world so far consists of Europe and the Mear/ Middle East but will eventually expand to include the Far East and even South America. Most of the characters are human but the game allows for Centaurs, Cyclops, Satyrs Fehrbolg (Fir-Bolg) and Alvar (Norse type elves)
We are looking for a small group of both experienced and inexperienced gamers with an eye for detail and enough knowledge to point out things we might have missed (equipment list, mistakes in rules etc) to play most likely monday evenings probably twice a month in the Donelson area.
Let me Know

Get Your Roleplay Free

Talisman Studios is celebrating the anniversary of Suzerain, our Origins Award Nominee RPG. And we’re celebrating in style, with a couple of great bits of news for roleplay fans everywhere:

Suzerain is now free from our online shop! That’s $0.00 for the Suzerain rule book. The economy’s getting tougher and none of us has much money to play with, but from now on you won’t need any money to play with Suzerain. Enjoy the game at www.suzerain.info by clicking on the ‘Treasure’ tab at the top of the page and browsing through all our free goodies.

We’re also launching a new web application on our site, specifically for Suzerain. Click on the ‘Vault’ tab to see our new feat database, fully searchable. Suzerain characters are all about their feats, and this is a great way to have a browse through all the options, helping you build your favorite characters. In fact, we’re even developing an update to the vault that allows you to create characters right on the web site at any power level, downloading them as PDFs for your game.

And that’ll be free too.

Happy birthday to Suzerain, and to all the fans of roleplaying. Drop us a ‘hello’ in the forums when you come for your free goodies!

Talisman Studios was formed in 2003 as an art and design studio to the adventure games industry, the brainchild of master artists Jason Engle and Aaron Acevedo. The studio is an Origins Award Winner (for Deadlands Reloaded), and has worked on dozens of products. In May 2007 the company stepped up a gear and became a publisher in its own right, starting with its Gamescapes line of game accessories leading up to the launch of Suzerain and Shaintar before Christmas. 2008 will see the company work on more than a hundred high art gaming products.

Suzerain is a multi-genre, multi-world game system, Origins Award nominated in 2008. Ron Blessing of The Game’s The Thing had this to say about it, “I can't wait to spend time in this playground. The book as a whole is awesome. Suzerain can be as simple or detailed as the players and director want. The art is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully it's obvious I'm pretty high on this product. Wow. Just wow.”
